The future for middle-agers looks a lot more gloomy in
today's state in the economy. Boomers tend to nix earlier bird deals and senior
discounts of the previous generation and quite a few refuse to accept the tag
of "senior" until well inside their 70's. Another element the Baby
boomers must look into is the impact of cigarettes and alcohol on personal health.
Retirees need to live a way of life of their dreams, do
exciting things including travel, and be able to handle the high costs of
housing, health care and long-term care mainly because it becomes more
necessary. The Baby Boomer lifestyle has become one of work. We just changed
our oil and did a tune up on our bodies, rotated our tires, and updated our
wills. It is also obvious how our grandparents stayed it mat be more physically
active than our parents, though more by necessity than choice.
As a result, they now use a lion's share from the
resources in this country. The word share didn't mean divide, split or
compromise, it meant partner or combine efforts together for one cause without
regrets. At the same time, we might be extremely neglectful if we did not do
healthy to impart and encourage more healthful living and lifestyle choices
upon our little ones and grandchildren. That has made the Boomer generation
more independent and self-reliant as opposed to previous generation.
Face it, you simply can't prevent aging, but you will
find things you can do to keep your health as you age. After all, everyone's
spent our everyday life preparing, planning and dealing for the next thing or
the following step, whether a raise, a promotion, paying for college, etc.
Overall, despite medical advancements, effective treatments, and much better
medical education, the fogeys of middle-agers managed to stay more active, and
enter their golden years with fewer problems than their children. We just
changed our oil and did a tune up on our bodies, rotated our tires, and updated
our wills.
The reason behind that number was the assumption that
expenses would go down after retirement, but that isn't necessarily the truth
any more within this day and age. Sadly, the health of a baby boomer is
declining which only means more trouble for society over a whole, as rising
health care costs reflect the raised need for medical assistance. For many of
us Baby Boomers it is time for a clean start. The prevalence of smoking and
tobacco use definitely stands out as being a prime example.
